Direct School Admission 2018
Direct School Admission (DSA) Application Procedure
Introduced in 2004, the Direct School Admission (DSA) scheme provides students with the opportunity to seek admission to a secondary school, based on a diverse range of specific academic and non-academic achievements and talents that they can demonstrate beyond the PSLE.
From 2018 DSA-Sec Exercise, Meridian Secondary School will offer DSA-Sec in three categories namely Student Leadership, Sports and Art.
If you are interested and would like to join us, you may seek admission through Direct School Admission (DSA). We will be admitting Secondary One students for 2019 through the MOE DSA-SEC Exercise 2018. Application opens from 7 May to 20 Jul 2018.
OVERVIEW OF MOE DSA-SEC EXERCISE 2018
The 2018 DSA-Sec Exercise will be conducted in three main stages as follows:
- Selection Stage (2 Jul 2018 to 31 Aug 2018)
During the Selection Stage, Meridian Secondary School (MSS) will identify, select and categorise students who have applied, and inform them of the results i.e. Confirmed Offer, placed on Waiting List or Rejected.
MSS offers three academic courses of study: Express, Normal (Academic) and Normal (Technical). A student given a Confirmed Offer is guaranteed a place in MSS provided the student is eligible for (based on the PSLE aggregate of the student, and passing certain subjects) the course offered in MSS.
- Exercise School Preference Stage (29 Oct 2018, 9 am – 2 Nov 2018, 3 pm)
During the Exercise School Preference Stage, candidates who receive at least one DSA-Sec offer may indicate their school preferences, up to a maximum of three choices. They can do so online via the DSA-Sec Internet System (DSA-Sec IS) or physically at their primary schools. DSA-Sec offers not taken up will be considered as lapsed.
- Results Release Stage (22 Nov to 26 Nov 2018; tentative)
The results of the DSA-Sec Exercise will be released to students. DSA-Sec candidates studying in MOE schools will receive their DSA-Sec results together with their PSLE results through their primary schools. Non-mainstream candidates can collect their DSA-Sec results from MOE Customer Service Centre.
Parents and students are encouraged to choose schools wisely based on the student’s aptitudes and strengths, bearing in mind the schools’ academic and non-academic requirements, and the programmes available to develop the area of talent.
Please note that students successfully allocated to their DSA-Sec schools will NOT be allowed to participate in the annual S1 Posting Exercise to opt for secondary schools, and are expected to honour the commitment to the allocated DSA-Sec school for the entire duration of the programme. They will also NOT be allowed to transfer to another school after the release of the PSLE results.
