The 2017 DSA-Sec Exercise will be conducted in four main stages as follows:
- Application Stage (8 May 2017 to 28 July 2017)
During the Application Stage, students who are interested to join Meridian Secondary School (MSS) through Direct School Admission (DSA) may submit their application from 8 May to 28 Jul 2017.
- Selection Stage (3 Jul 2017 to 31 Aug 2017)
During the Selection Stage, MSS will identify, select and categorise students who have applied, and inform them of the results i.e. Confirmed Offer, placed on Waiting List or Rejected.
MSS offers three academic courses of study: Express, Normal (Academic) and Normal (Technical). A student given a Confirmed Offer is guaranteed a place in MSS provided the student is eligible for (based on the PSLE aggregate of the student, and passing certain subjects) the course offered in MSS.
- Exercise School Preference Stage (30 Oct 2017, 9 am – 3 Nov 2017, 3 pm)
During the Exercise School Preference Stage, candidates who receive at least one DSA-Sec offer may indicate their school preferences, up to a maximum of three choices. They can do so online via the DSA-Sec Internet System (DSA-Sec IS) or physically at their primary schools. DSA-Sec offers not taken up will be considered as lapsed.
- Results Release Stage (Late Nov 2017; tentative)
The results of the DSA-Sec Exercise will be released to students. DSA-Sec candidates studying in MOE schools will receive their DSA-Sec results together with their PSLE results through their primary schools. Non-mainstream candidates can collect their DSA-Sec results from MOE Customer Service Centre.
Parents and students are encouraged to choose schools wisely based on the student’s aptitudes and strengths, bearing in mind the schools’ academic and non-academic requirements, and the programmes available to develop the area of talent.
Please note that successful DSA-Sec candidates will NOT be allowed to participate in the annual Secondary One Posting Exercise to opt for secondary schools. They are expected to honour the commitment to the allocated DSA-Sec school for the entire duration of the programme. They are also NOT allowed to transfer to another school after the release of the PSLE results.
