Secondary 1 Registration and Other Important Information
Parents and Secondary 1 Students,
We warmly welcome you to Meridian Secondary.
Registration and all applications will be done online. Hence you and your child are not required to report in person to Meridian Secondary School following the release of S1 Posting Results.
The following are important and useful information you need for registration and to help you prepare for the new academic year in Meridian Secondary School.

1. Online Registration (Compulsory)
It is compulsory for parents/guardians to complete this online Registration Form 2025 Secondary 1 Registration Form by 23 December 2024 (Monday), 12pm. The information is used for important administrative purposes and for planning the Sec 1 Orientation Programme.
For your easy reference, the items to be completed in the online Registration Form is attached in Annex A

3. Full Subject-Based Banding (Full SBB)
Full SBB is MOE’s ongoing efforts to nurture the joy of learning and develop multiple pathways to cater to the different strengths and interests of our students.

Parents whose child is eligible to take subjects at a more demanding level will receive the Full SBB Acceptance Form(s) via Parents Gateway (PG) on 19 December 2024 (Thursday). You may receive up to 4 forms depending on the number of subjects your child is eligible for. You will need to submit the acceptance form(s) in PG by 23 December 2024 (Monday), 12pm.

4. Outcome of application to offer Higher Mother Tongue and 3rd Language
For parents whose child is eligible and has applied to offer HMT or a 3rd language, you will be informed of the outcome of your application from 19 December 2024 (Thursday) via PG.
5. Appeal for transfer out to another school (for serious medical conditions or severe physical impairments cases ONLY)
This application for school transfer only applies to students with serious medical conditions, such as chronic heart conditions or kidney problems or severe physical impairments, such as those requiring permanent use of a wheelchair.
Parents need to submit your appeal in person through Meridian Secondary School before 19 December 2024 (Thursday), 12pm. All appeals must be accompanied by relevant supporting documents, such as medical reports, letters from doctors. Application without supporting documents, incomplete form or late submission will not be processed.
Results of your application will be made known on 2 Jan 2025. Your child will need to continue to attend school at Meridian Secondary School until the transfer is approved.
Successful applicants will not be allowed to reject the reposted school and request to be admitted back to Meridian Secondary School.
6. Appeal for transfer to Meridian Secondary School (for non-medical cases)
Appeals for transfer to Meridian Secondary School are subjected to the availability of vacancies. Your child’s PSLE score must meet the school’s cut-off point of the posting year before your appeal can be considered.
Students successfully allocated to their DSA school will not be allowed to transfer to another school. They are expected to honour their commitment to the allocated DSA school for the entire duration of the programme.
Complete and submit the Appeal for transfer to Meridian Secondary School (for non-medical cases) by 23 December 2024 (Monday), 5pm.
Your child should continue to attend school at the posted secondary school until the transfer is approved. Your appeal is deemed to be unsuccessful if you do not hear from the school by 10 January 2025. Reason(s) for unsuccessful appeals will not be disclosed.
7. Application for MOE Financial Assistance Scheme (FAS) for 2025
If you wish to apply for FAS, please submit your application via the e-FAS form. For more information, please refer to: 2025 MOE FAS Application
You may approach our staff in our General Office or call 65831387 for further assistance before you purchase the textbooks or uniforms.
8. First day of school and Secondary 1 orientation
Students are to report to School by 7:30am on 2 January 2025 (Thursday).
Students are to be dressed in Meridian Secondary School Polo T-shirt with Uniform culottes/pants, white socks and black shoes. For students who are not able to purchase the MSS school uniform by the first day of school, he/ she can report to school in his/ her primary school uniform.
The Secondary 1 Orientation will be held from 2, 3 and 9 January 2025. For more information, please refer the information below:
a) On the first day of school, 2 January (Thursday), students should report by 7:30 am. There will be five days of orientation, with the following dismissal times:
• 2 January (Thursday): 4:30 pm
• 3 January (Friday): 5:00 pm
• 9 January (Thursday): 1:25 pm
On 6 and 8 January, the orientation programme will be integrated with regular lessons and will follow the normal school timetable.
b) Attire for the orientation will be:
• MSS Polo T-shirt
• School culottes/pants
• White socks
• Black shoes

The following list of items are required:
• Small lock with key or number lock (for school locker)
• Water bottle
• Wallet
• Cup (on 2 January and 3 January for buffet)
• Pencil case
• Recyclable materials (on 9 January; instructions will be provided)
• Sufficient pocket money for food and drinks from the canteen during recess
• Medication (if necessary)
• Hand sanitizer (optional)
• Extra MSS Polo T-shirt (optional)
c) Invitation to All Sec 1 Parents/Guardians (Sec 1 Orientation)
We would also like to extend our invitation to all Sec 1 parents/guardians on the last day of the orientation, 9 Jan (Thurs) from 11.15 am to 1.25 pm for the finale segment. During the finale segment, the students will be showcasing their products for the Meridian Cheer Competition and Meridian Mass Dance performance. You are also invited to join in the mass dance together with your child/ward. Thank you for indicating your interest via the Sec 1 Registration Form.
2025 Sec 1 Orientation Programme School
9. Secondary 1 Parent Engagement Session
The session will be held on 8 January 2025 (Thursday), 6pm via MS Teams. More information on the session will sent via PG when school reopens.

a) Address by Principal – The Meridian Experience
b) National Digital Literacy Programme (NDLP) and information to purchase the personal learning device (PLD) – Subject Head (ICT)
c) Interaction with your child's form teachers
10. National Digital Literacy Programme
The NDLP was launched in March 2020 to make digital learning inclusive by equipping students with the digital skills to be future-ready.
Under the NDLP, every secondary school student will own a school-prescribed personal learning device (PLD). The school prescribed PLD is Acer Chromebook Spin R756TN Convertible.
Students may use funds from their Edusave Account to pay for the PLD. More details on procurement and costing will be provided during the Secondary 1 Parent Engagement Session and PG on 8 January 2025.

The student handbook contains many useful information that a new student will need to know. Please spend some time to read the student handbook so that you know what to expect when you join us.
