In Meridian Secondary, we design NE learning experiences to strengthen our students’ citizenship dispositions and to inspire the school community to work together and actively contribute for our nation.
The citizenship dispositions are displayed below.
All students in Meridian Secondary School will experience a structured NE programme throughout their 4 – 5 years in Meridian. This is done through various platforms:
- discuss national, current issues in class
- commemorate the four NE core events as a school
- involve all CCAs in at least one of the four NE celebrations for greater awareness and ownership
Some of the NE events are shown below:
Total Defence Day
Our Uniformed Group cadets came together to organize several activities, such as facilitating the Guardians of the City II card games and demonstrating First Aid techniques, for their peers as part of commemorating Total Defence Day. Straits Times IN resources were also meaningfully used to engage students to learn more about Total Defence in Singapore.
Sec 3 NRIC Presentation Ceremony
The objective of the NRIC presentation ceremony is to provide Meridians with a memorable citizenship experience. Through this experience, students learnt the value of the NRIC and reflected on what it means to be Singaporeans.
National Day Celebration
Although this year’s celebration was carried out differently, students and teachers still came together to enjoy class-based activities and live-streamed shows. The highlights of the celebration are shown below.
On that day, students also enjoyed watching the JAM performances and witnessing the Student Leaders’ Recognition Ceremony.
